Serbia’s Interior Minister Ivica Dačić has been hospitalized with severe pneumonia and is being treated at the Pulmonology Clinic of the Clinical Centre of Serbia, where he has been placed on mechanical ventilation. Medical officials have described his condition as serious, saying the medical team has managed to stabilise him compared with the previous night but stressing that it is too early for any prognosis.
Doctors have said the coming period will be decisive for assessing how his body responds to treatment, with one physician warning that the next 72 hours are crucial. While reports note a degree of stabilization, the tone from the medical side has remained guarded, emphasizing that Dačić is still in a difficult state and under intensive care.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he visited Dačić before departing for Kazakhstan and publicly stated that the minister’s condition was “somewhat” or “a little” better, while underlining that doctors are still being careful in their assessments. Coverage of Vučić’s remarks also highlighted that medical caution remains despite signs of improvement compared with earlier reports.
