Winter conditions have returned to parts of Croatia, where snowfall that began overnight has led to traffic restrictions, including a ban on trucks with trailers on certain roads. Similar weather conditions are expected to spread into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Snow has been recorded in the Gorski Kotar region and parts of northwestern Croatia, while special warnings have been issued for the Gospić area, where snow depth could reach up to half a meter. Road crews are actively clearing and salting routes, but traffic has slowed in several areas due to winter maintenance operations.

Authorities have issued emergency alerts through the national early warning system (SRUUK) to residents in Karlovac, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, and Lika-Senj counties. The warnings highlight the risk of heavy snowfall, strong winds, and severe weather conditions throughout the day.

In mountainous regions, intense snowfall, powerful wind gusts, and snowstorms are expected from early morning until midnight.

An orange weather alert is also in effect for Zagreb due to strong northerly and northeasterly winds, particularly in the second half of the day. Gusts could reach speeds between 55 and 90 km/h.

Similar conditions are forecast for Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a nationwide warning, especially for the Krajina region.

Strong winds from the south and southeast are expected, with speeds ranging from 40 to 75 km/h, before shifting to a westerly direction later in the day. In Krajina, rainfall between 30 and 70 liters per square meter is forecast, gradually turning into sleet and eventually snow.
