Dodik Laments Orbán’s Defeat, Signals Bid to Preserve Ties With Hungary

Milorad Dodik said he was sorry Viktor Orbán had lost the Hungarian election, describing him as a friend and a key political ally. Orbán’s defeat ends his 16-year rule and leaves Dodik without one of his most important international partners.

Dodik said Republika Srpska would remain grateful for Orbán’s support and added that he wants to meet with him soon to discuss the next steps.
He also said that Orbán’s government had agreed on joint projects between Republika Srpska and Hungary and that many had already been implemented.
According to the report, Orbán’s government provided Dodik with financial and political backing at critical moments.

With Orbán now out of office, Dodik has lost an important partner and is left facing uncertainty over whether that cooperation will continue.
