A new wave of bomb threats was reported across the Western Balkans on Monday morning, shifting concern from shopping centers to schools in several countries across the region.
After shopping malls in Sarajevo, Skopje, Zagreb and Podgorica were targeted over the weekend by false bomb alerts, the latest reports focus on educational institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro.
In Croatia, several schools in the Split-Dalmatia County received bomb threat reports, prompting student evacuations, according to local media reports. Similar alerts were also registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
Reports indicate that schools in Mostar, Neum, Čapljina and other towns in the canton were among those affected by the threats.
In Montenegro, local media said two secondary schools in the municipality of Bar were evacuated after authorities received warnings about alleged explosive devices.
The incidents mark another morning of disruption in the region as police and emergency services continue checks at the affected locations. Authorities have not yet released full details on the origin of the threats.
