Representatives of the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia and the Customs Administration of Croatia held a bilateral meeting focused on customs reforms, modernization processes and cooperation linked to accelerated European integration. According to the reports, the meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional cooperation and exchanging experiences in areas connected to customs modernization and harmonization with European Union standards.
During the discussions, officials stressed that the cooperation between the two customs administrations should leave a “visible mark” in the reform process connected to Macedonia’s EU path. The reports describe Croatia’s experience as especially important because of its completed accession process and practical implementation of European customs standards after becoming an EU member state.
The meeting reportedly focused on exchanging operational experiences, digitalization processes, customs controls, border procedures and institutional strengthening. The two sides also discussed mechanisms for more efficient customs administration and better coordination in regional and European frameworks.
Macedonian representatives highlighted that reforms in the customs sector are directly linked to the country’s broader European integration process and institutional transformation. Croatian officials, meanwhile, shared experiences connected to harmonization with EU legislation and adaptation to European customs procedures during Croatia’s accession period.
Officials from both sides stressed the importance of continued communication and partnership between the two administrations, with the goal of improving operational capacities and contributing to Macedonia’s reform agenda connected to EU integration. The meeting was also presented as confirmation of strong bilateral relations between Macedonia and Croatia in the field of customs cooperation and institutional development.
