U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a new warning to Iran, saying that time is running out for reaching an agreement while peace negotiations remain stalled. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that Iran should move quickly, adding that “time is of the essence.” The message came after he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the reports.
Iranian media reported that the United States had not made concrete concessions in response to Tehran’s latest proposals for ending the conflict. The semi-official Mehr news agency warned that a lack of compromise from Washington could lead the talks into a dead end. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described Iran’s demands as “responsible” and “generous.”
According to the reports, Iran’s proposals included an immediate end to military actions on all fronts, an end to the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports and guarantees that there would be no further attacks against Iran. Iranian media also reported that Tehran’s demands included compensation for war damage and emphasis on Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington, according to Iranian media, responded with several conditions, including demands related to limiting Iran’s nuclear programme and transferring part of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to the United States. Trump also reportedly suggested that he could accept a 20-year suspension of Iran’s nuclear programme, which remains one of the main points of dispute between the two sides.
The military context remains tense. Trump is expected to meet his top national security advisers to discuss options for military action against Iran, according to reports cited by the articles. At the same time, Israel is said to be coordinating with the United States over a possible continuation of attacks, while Netanyahu reportedly told his cabinet that Israel was prepared for any scenario.
Iranian officials also warned that their armed forces remain ready. Mohsen Rezaei, military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, said that the country’s forces are prepared while diplomatic efforts continue. The situation has also raised global concern over the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran continues to control, affecting a key route for oil and liquefied natural gas shipments and contributing to higher oil prices on world markets.
