Bosnia and Herzegovina among 19 countries in Europol action targeting online content linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard

Bosnia and Herzegovina was among 19 countries that took part in a coordinated Europol action aimed at disrupting online content linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. According to the reports, 14,200 posts and links connected to the IRGC were identified, removed or blocked as part of the operation. The action was led by the EU Internet Referral Unit within the European Counter Terrorism Centre, after the European Union designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization on February 19, 2026.

The operation focused on identifying and limiting the online presence of content used for propaganda, recruitment and fundraising. The material was spread across social media platforms, streaming services, blogs and independent websites, and appeared in several languages, including Arabic, Persian, English, French and Spanish.

Investigators also identified AI-generated videos glorifying the IRGC, as well as content calling for revenge for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Europol found that the network used hosting services in different jurisdictions, from Russia to the United States, and relied on cryptocurrency transactions to maintain online operations.

The IRGC’s main account on X, which had more than 150,000 followers, was blocked in the European Union. Thousands of other links were either removed or were in the process of being taken down. The action is part of the EU’s wider ProtectEU strategy, aimed at reducing the reach and influence of terrorist networks in the digital space.
