Bruno Fernandes has set a new Premier League record after becoming the only player in the history of the competition to record 21 assists in a single season. The Manchester United captain reached the milestone during the match against Brighton, confirming one of the most productive individual creative campaigns ever seen in English football.
Fernandes produced the record-breaking assist with a strong cross into the penalty area, where Patrick Dorgu reacted well and scored for Manchester United at the Amex Stadium. With that moment, the Portuguese midfielder entered Premier League history, moving beyond all previous playmakers in terms of assists in one league season.
Across the campaign, Fernandes registered nine goals and 21 assists in 35 Premier League appearances. His direct contribution in both scoring and creating chances was one of the key reasons Manchester United finished the season in third place with 71 points, securing qualification for next season’s Champions League.
The achievement further strengthens Fernandes’ status as one of Manchester United’s most influential players. As captain, he combined leadership with decisive attacking output, while his record confirms his exceptional role in the team’s overall performance during the season.
