Mikel Arteta named Premier League Manager of the Season after leading Arsenal to historic title

Mikel Arteta has been named Premier League Manager of the Season for 2025/26 after guiding Arsenal to their first league title in 22 years. The Spanish coach won the award ahead of Pep Guardiola, Andoni Iraola, Keith Andrews, Régis Le Bris and Michael Carrick, completing a season in which Arsenal returned to the top of English football.

Under Arteta’s leadership, Arsenal finished the campaign with 85 points from 38 matches, seven points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. The title was Arsenal’s 14th English league championship and their first Premier League crown since the unbeaten 2003/04 season under Arsène Wenger.

Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 and has since built a team that has now delivered major domestic success. The celebrations were followed by Arteta’s confident message ahead of Arsenal’s next major challenge: the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain at the Puskás Arena in Budapest. During the title celebration, he told supporters that Arsenal would become European champions on Saturday, while another statement emphasized that the team had already discussed what needed to be done for the final.

The moment also brought renewed attention to Arsène Wenger’s old comments from 2015, when he said he hoped Arteta would become a coach. Seen from today’s perspective, after Arsenal’s title-winning season and Arteta’s individual recognition, that statement is now being viewed as a striking prediction of his future success.
