Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said during a visit to China that Serbia has signed investment agreements worth 953 million euros with Chinese companies, covering new technology projects, manufacturing facilities and around 1,700 new jobs.

Speaking from Jiaxing, in China’s Zhejiang province, Vučić said the investments would be directed to several Serbian cities, including Niš, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Šabac, Ćuprija and Inđija. He described the agreements as part of Serbia’s effort to move toward more advanced industries, including robotics, artificial intelligence and high-tech manufacturing.

According to Vučić, Serbia is expected to begin assembling humanoid robots in July, with the first phase of production planned between July 10 and July 20. He said the next stage would include so-called “training factories,” where robots would be prepared for different practical tasks, followed by a third phase focused on the wider use of artificial intelligence.

Vučić claimed Serbia could become one of the first countries in Europe to produce humanoid robots. He added that young Serbian engineers and trainees are already learning in China how to work with the technology.

The Serbian president also said Chinese investors showed strong interest in expanding cooperation with Serbia, particularly after meetings with business leaders and officials during his visit. Additional talks with companies were also expected to take place.

Serbia has increasingly promoted cooperation with China as a source of infrastructure, industrial and technology investment. During the visit, Vučić pointed to China’s rapid development in roads, railways and energy systems as an example Serbia wants to study and adapt.
