KK Bosna are champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina once again, bringing the national basketball title back to Sarajevo after an 18-year wait following a dramatic two-game final against defending champions Igokea.
Although Igokea won the second leg 100-97 after overtime at Sarajevo’s Zetra arena, Bosna claimed the championship on aggregate thanks to their 76-70 victory in the opening game. The final score over the two games was enough for Bosna to secure one of the most emotional titles in the club’s recent history.
The decisive game delivered major drama. Igokea led by as many as 17 points at halftime and appeared close to overturning the deficit from the first matchup. The visitors controlled much of the first half, but Bosna gradually fought back in front of a loud home crowd in Sarajevo.
The key moment came late in overtime, when Igokea had possession and a chance to secure the title. Bosna guard Caruthers stole the ball in the final seconds and scored the basket that effectively decided the championship.
Igokea were led by Pierre-Louis with 23 points, while Dragan Milosavljević added 21 points and seven rebounds. Rorie finished with 14 points and three assists. For Bosna, Plamer and Kovačević scored 15 points each, Atić added 13 points and six rebounds, while West contributed 12 points and five assists.
Igokea coach Nenad Stefanović said after the game that the late turnover would remain one of the defining moments of the season, while also crediting Bosna for their unity and resilience.
For Bosna and their supporters, the victory marked the end of a long wait. The famous slogan “Bosna will be champion again” finally became reality, as Sarajevo celebrated a title that had been missing for nearly two decades.
