Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was filmed attending the famous Guča Trumpet Festival in Serbia, where he appeared in a relaxed atmosphere alongside two influential Hungarian businessmen. Videos of the unexpected visit circulated on social media before being picked up by Serbian and Hungarian media, drawing considerable public attention.
Orbán was accompanied by Oszkár Világi, deputy chief executive of the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL, and architect Dániel Taraczky. Footage showed Orbán walking through the festival in visibly good spirits, without visible security, while several visitors recognised him and asked to take photographs with him. Another video showed the former prime minister drinking traditional homemade rakija.
Hungarian investigative journalist Szabolcs Panyi, who shared footage of the visit on social media, drew attention to the identities of the people accompanying Orbán. Világi, who walked alongside him, was described as a Hungarian billionaire from Slovakia and the second-ranking executive at MOL. He is also the majority owner of football club DAC 1904 from Dunajská Streda. According to Panyi, Világi and Orbán have been close friends for years.
Taraczky, who was also seen with Orbán, is an architect and the chief designer of the Hatvanpuszta estate, a property associated with Orbán’s family that has been the subject of political controversy in Hungary. Hungarian reports cited in the articles said Taraczky had also received contracts for numerous publicly funded construction projects, contributing to his status as a billionaire.
Taraczky was also linked in the reports to controversy surrounding the demolition of a protected cultural monument at the Hatvanpuszta estate. Hungarian politician Ákos Hadházy had reported him to the Chamber of Architects over the case. Questions had also previously been raised by Hungary’s then-opposition about the construction of the large estate and the sources of financing behind it.
The appearance of Orbán together with senior business figures at an informal event in Serbia attracted particular attention in Hungarian media, with their joint presence prompting discussion about their personal and business connections. Világi’s senior position within MOL gave the visit an additional business dimension, while Taraczky’s presence drew renewed attention to the controversial construction projects with which his name has been associated.
The footage, originally published by the RINA news agency, showed Orbán enjoying the festival atmosphere, interacting with visitors and spending time with his companions during the traditional trumpet gathering in Guča. His appearance came after he had left the post of Hungarian prime minister, with Peter Magyar having succeeded him following Hungary’s 2026 election.
