Montenegro’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.8% in July, up from 3.6% in June, according to newly published data from the country’s Statistical Office, Monstat. The latest inflation rate in Montenegro reflects faster price growth across several major consumer categories.
Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased by 2.2% compared with July last year. Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 10.4%, while clothing and footwear became 2.3% more expensive on an annual basis.
Restaurants, Hotels and Tobacco Record Faster Price Growth
Prices in restaurants and hotels increased by 5.4% year-on-year in July. Information and communication services recorded an annual increase of 1.1%.
In all of these categories — food and non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, clothing and footwear, restaurants and hotels, and information and communication — price growth accelerated compared with June.
Transport recorded one of the strongest annual increases, with prices rising by 10.6%. However, the pace of transport price growth was slower than in the previous month.
Prices related to recreation and culture increased by 1.4% compared with July 2025. This category also recorded slower annual price growth than in June.
Inflation Rises From 3.6% to 3.8%
The latest figures show that the inflation rate in Montenegro increased by 0.2 percentage points between June and July, from 3.6% to 3.8%.
The acceleration was accompanied by stronger annual price increases in several everyday spending categories, while transport and recreation and culture continued to record price growth at a slower pace than a month earlier.
