Slovenian basketball superstar Luka Dončić delivered a 52-point performance as the Los Angeles Lakers overturned an 18-point deficit to defeat the Utah Jazz 132–123 on Sunday, October 25.
The 27-year-old guard added 10 assists, eight rebounds and two steals, leading the Lakers to their third consecutive victory at the start of the 2026–27 NBA season.
Dončić made 17 of his 30 field-goal attempts, including eight three-pointers, in one of the most impressive performances of the opening week.
It was the first 50-point game of the new NBA season and the 10th of Dončić’s regular-season career.
Dončić Joins Exclusive Lakers Company
Dončić became only the third player in Lakers history to record at least 50 points and 10 assists in a single game, joining franchise legends Elgin Baylor and Jerry West.
His performance was especially important after Utah established an 18-point advantage during the first half.
The Lakers gradually recovered, with Dončić hitting a three-pointer just before halftime to give Los Angeles a 74–71 lead.
Utah remained competitive after the break, setting up a closely contested final quarter.
Dončić took control in the closing minutes, hitting decisive three-pointers during a 14–5 Lakers run.
His consecutive shots from beyond the arc helped Los Angeles establish a 127–121 lead with less than two minutes remaining.
The Lakers held on to secure their third win in three games.
Lakers Remain Unbeaten as Dončić Leads the Offense
Austin Reaves contributed 29 points for Los Angeles, providing valuable offensive support throughout the comeback.
For Utah, Finnish forward Lauri Markkanen finished with 28 points, while Keyonte George added 24 points and 10 assists.
Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 20 points, and Ace Bailey recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite Utah’s strong start and advantage on the boards, the Lakers produced the decisive plays when the game was on the line.
Dončić’s performance also highlighted his growing influence as the team’s leading offensive player.
The Slovenian star is averaging more than 34 points per game through the Lakers’ first three contests of the season.
Los Angeles will look to maintain its unbeaten start when it hosts the Portland Trail Blazers on October 27.
For Dončić, the 52-point display adds another achievement to a career that has already established him among the NBA’s most productive offensive players.
