President Donald Trump has canceled two weekend campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa, just days before Americans vote in the November 3 midterm elections. Instead, he plans to address supporters by phone as Republicans campaign to maintain control of Congress.

Trump had planned to appear in Salina, Kansas, on Saturday and Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday.

The Republican National Committee confirmed the change on Thursday, October 29. Trump’s allies said the president would continue taking part in campaign events remotely.

The decision follows several weeks of travel across the United States, where Trump has campaigned for Republican candidates.

Trump Changes Plans in Final Campaign Days

Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Thursday, Trump said he did not believe he needed to visit Kansas in person.

The state has drawn attention because Republican Senator Roger Marshall faces a competitive race against Democrat Adam Hamilton.

Trump expressed confidence in Marshall’s campaign and said he expected Republicans to perform well on Election Day.

The president also canceled his planned appearance in Iowa, where several congressional races have attracted national attention.

Instead of traveling to both states, Trump plans to participate in campaign events through telephone appearances.

The changes come as Republicans and Democrats increase their efforts to reach voters before Tuesday’s election.

Candidates are focusing on economic concerns, immigration and other issues that have shaped this year’s political debate.

Why the November 3 Elections Matter

Americans will vote on November 3 to choose all 435 members of the House of Representatives and fill Senate seats.

The results will determine which party controls each chamber of Congress during the final two years of Trump’s presidency.

Republicans currently control both chambers, while Democrats hope to gain enough seats to change the balance of power in Washington.

Control of Congress affects federal spending, legislation and the president’s ability to advance his policy agenda.

The Senate also plays an important role in confirming presidential appointments, including federal judges.

For Trump, the final campaign days offer an opportunity to support Republican candidates in closely contested races.

For Democrats, the election provides a chance to challenge the administration’s policies and seek greater influence in Congress.

Although Trump has canceled the two in-person appearances, his campaign involvement will continue through remote events.

The November 3 vote will determine the next balance of power in Washington.
